We do things differently at Smile Valley Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Roya Pilcher and her team combine concierge-level service with the highest quality dental care for infants, children and teens, including those with special needs. As a privately-owned, neighborhood practice, our approach is much more personal and collaborative, and we treat our families like, well, family. We fill our bright, state-of-the-art, Washington, DC office with joy and fun so that your little one has a positive attitude about dentistry that will carry into adulthood. We also strive to make visits interactive and educational for kids (and parents!). Our ultimate goal is to create lifelong, healthy, beautiful smiles, and we’ve been doing just that since 2009! Dr. Roya Pilcher has been a pediatric dentist since 2005. After earning her doctorate of dental surgery at the University of Maryland, she completed her residency in pediatric dentistry at New York University. Guided by the advice of her father, a physician, who told her, “Treat every patient like they are a member of our family,” Dr. Roya opened Smile Valley Pediatric Dentistry in Washington, DC in 2009. She remembers her father’s words each and every day. Whether it’s allowing you to hold your child’s hand through a procedure or suggesting your little one bring their own toothpaste to an appointment, her first priority is your child’s comfort and wellbeing. Dr. Priya Shah received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in New Jersey. Her passion for working with children and giving back to the community motivated her to pursue a residency in pediatric dentistry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York. Now, as a pediatric dentist in Spring Valley, her mantra is to foster a safe and comfortable environment for her patients and their families, while always creating a unique and fun experience. Jude is our certified therapy dog and resident good boy. He’s here to provide extra comfort, support and a touch of joy to the dental experience. Jude is specially trained to be gentle, calm and friendly and has a nose for those in need. If going to the dentist is a source of anxiety for your little one, Jude can help make their time with us more pleasant and stress-free. Ask our team if you’d like Jude to join your child during their next appointment. Our furry friend is always ready to lend a comforting paw. I have been coming to Dr. Pilcher for 4 years, with my now 8-year-old and my 4 yr old sees her as well. Dr. Pilcher is a truly gifted health care provider. She is so sensitive, calm, kind, SMART, and efficient. Her office is clean and cheerful and the staff are great as well. I would recommend Dr. Pilcher to anyone and everyone - I wish she did adults!! My two kids ages 8 & 11 have been seeing Dr. Roya for several years now. She is the best! She is kind and extremely gentle. I have never had to wait and always easy to make appointments. The office is adorable with plenty of books, an easel & bean bags. Wonderful staff! I highly recommend!

Smile Valley is an amazing practice. Our kids have been with two different practices prior to us finding our way to Smile Valley and this came with some reservations about seeing a dentist. After the first visit, both of our kids (elementary school age) look forward to going for their check ups and can’t stop talking about all the information the dr has shared about their teeth! They’re even excited about getting filling as they get to watch their favorite shows while enjoying a flavored treat of laughing gas. Couldn’t recommend this practice and all the doctors and staff enough. We went from a stressful experience and dread to a complete breeze and love of dental visits.

Dr. Pilcher is fantastic! We’ve been seeing her for years. My oldest is now 14 and he has always been very comfortable with her. She has a kind and gentle manner with the kids and works well with sensory and regulation issues. She always has a calming demeanor and never pushes a child to do anything they are not ready for. She has wonderful advice for each stage of development. Great dentist!
